What's happening in the world?

Lois Lane asked Clark Kent this question after he gave her a "super kiss" so she would forget his identity and the love they had shared. Sometimes I feel like asking that question, but in a different context.

What is happing in the world? We read newspapers, watch 24 hour news channels, and surf the Internet and get all this news. Mostly bad news. Now maybe I'm just feeling a little philosophical today for whatever reason, but I often wonder if we would have a better world (and better news) if we would stop concentrating on what's happening in the world and would ask a different question: "What can I do to make the world better?"

What can we do? Not to climb onto a soapbox or anything, but I think if each person was a little bit kinder, showed a little more compassion, we would not see so much bad news when we seek the answer to the question: "What's happening in the world?"

Serenity trailer hits 'Net!

Of all the highly anticipated films this year, Serenity is definately #1 on my list. You know, I remember when movie trailers used to be the annoying adverts that I had to sit through to see the movie, but in recent years, I have anticipated some trailers as much as the movies. Sometimes I want to see a trailer to confirm the impressions I already had, and sometimes trailers take my completely buy surprise by showing me a movie I want to see (sometimes I didn't even know about the movie before the trailer, although I consider myself pretty informed about upcoming films.)

Anyway, yesterday the trailer for Serenity was released on Apple Movie Trailers. It is also linked through the official site, http://www.serenitymovie.com/ which by the way is an awesome fan site with a very enthusiastic group of people who are intelligent, funny, and very friendly. But back to the trailer.

It was incredible. If you haven't seen it, you absolutely should.

So go see Serenity and find out, as I did, that this movie will begin a phenomenon that will be comparable to the stir created by the original Star Wars movies. Seriously. In a few years, we will have conventions where people dress up like Reavers and hold parades, like the Storm Trooper parades at current conventions. Serenity will be a hit.. I can feel it!

About this blog

I started this blog as a fun way to communicate with friends and family, and to record my progress on various projects. I decided it was a perfect way to share photos and observations about life in general as well. It has evolved, as all things do.

It is still a way to communicate with friends and family, but it is also a way to meet people who share the same interests. It has become a place where I can seek and give advice, a place where I can rant and rave, and a place where I can share my observations about life. I've also learned a lot about manipulating html and using widgets as a result of this blog. Since I began this blog, I've been through a lot, and it is all recorded in the archives so that I can look back on it anytime.

I love writing this blog every day, even when I don't have much to write about. It makes me feel connected, makes me feel like I'm leaving a mark on the world in some way. Thank you for visiting, and I hope you enjoy reading these posts as much as I enjoy writing them.
