The kickoff party

About 6 people attended our regional kickoff party, including the two MLs. So if you don't count us, only 4 people were there. I was hoping more people whould show, but oh well. Maybe next year will be better. Regardless, we are on our way to Nov. 1, and I am absolutely dying to start!

In other news, I decided to go ahead and switch to Blogger Beta tonight, mostly because of all the problems Blogger had today. It has been a great experience so far. Hopefully it won't become a nightmare later. My only problem right now is with the labels. I want to put a list of labels on my sidebar so that if you want to see all posts that are tagged with one particular label, you just click on the label you want. This is a great feature that the Blogger templates allow, but if you use a custom template (like the one I'm using) you can't do it. I'm going to spend some time on the Web to see if someone has figured out the code. Maybe I can swipe it from somewhere. If anyone reading this knows how to do the labels list, let me know!

Anita, I have great news for you. You should be able to add the widgets to your custom template if you or someone you know has made a few changes to make it compatible with Blogger beta. If so, then all you have to do is access the layout menu and add them via the page elements screen.

  2. Thanks, Robbie. My only problem is, I have no idea how to make the changes to my template to make it compatible with Blogger Beta. I've been doing some research and will hopefully be able to come up with a way to do it. I'm semi-tech savvy, but there are some things I just don't know how to do... yet...

  3. Hey! Just saw your comment. I just posted in the Alumni Lounge, wondering if anyone else had adopted. I have quite a little group so far, by accident, and they all seem terrific.

I've come up with some inspirations/ideas/suggestions, in addition to answering the individual questions. I'm going to shoot off one short piece to them every day (as soon as I'm done with my own pages, but before I start the rest of my day).

I'm also putting together some certificates and fun little stuff to email them as they hit different points in the process -- like every week they survive, and for 10,000, 25,000, 40,000, and the final 50K.

I want them to have fun and feel good about the process, not feel stressed.

I'd love to hear what you're doing. Are you listed under this name? Can I go ahead and add you to my buddy list so I can find you over there?

  4. Kickoff parties are funny things. I thought there was going to be a sizeable party, but a bunch of people bailed out at the last minute citing various excuses and my local party ended up consisting of two MLs, me, and another person.

Maybe more people will go to the write-ins...

  5. Thanks for the link from your blog; I've returned the favor. I'd like it if we became "buddies" in this long hard road... it would be nice to succeed before we become old biddies!

And I'm definitely getting some weird bugs, secure and nonsecure stuff, and it got hung up a couple of times in posting.
