a need for some poetry

I was going through some old papers today and found a folder that contained some of my assignments from high school. Tucked away in one of the side pockets, I found several poems I wrote during that time of my life. None of them were particularly good, in fact, they were pretty much the angsty, over dramatic poetry you would expect from a teenaged girl, but it got me thinking. I actually haven't written a poem since high school. I don't know why. I think I might try to do that sometime soon. I also haven't done a short story in awhile. Maybe I'll do that soon too.

I started "The Artist's Way" this morning. It seems really good. I think it'll be very interesting to go through the course and see what happens.

  1. The Artist's Way is a great book/course, though I admit to having started it several times and not getting very far. Granted, I've not had any blocking issues, so the motivation was down, but I recommend it to everyone who does :)

  2. My favorite of her books is THE RIGHT TO WRITE.

ARTISTS' WAY is a bit too much "my way is THE way" for my taste, and a little too "oh, just do what you feel", which is good when you get stuck, but not when you want to make writing the focus of your life.

However, the book has helped lots of people, so I think it's important.

  3. I'm wondering about something, now that I've read more of the book. I'm not sure it will really be the best thing for me since I'm not really blocked, and it's really for blocked people more than anything. I wonder if I should consider something else...
