Dear Baby (8 Weeks)

Dear Baby,

We are calling you Pintsize right now, but as soon as we find out if you are a boy or a girl, we will give you a good name.  I promise!  Nothing silly or embarrassing.  Being 8 weeks pregnant is an interesting thing.  I'm feeling okay - mainly just nauseated all the time and really tired.  I can't feel you or see you, but I know you are there.  And your daddy and I already love you.  We are so excited to meet you in October!

Well, I did it.  I cut my hair!  Post-wedding haircut, how I love you!  It's so much easier.  Here's a pic of the new hair - we were all dressed up for a Mardi Gras Ball.  And hey - there's Simon in the background!

First doctor's appointment

We had our first appointment today!  It was a ton of paperwork and talking, mostly.  We had never been to the office before, so of course we went to the wrong building.  After we figured out which building the office was actually in and arrived there, I was given lots of paperwork to fill out about previous medical history and family history.  Got all that done in just a few minutes and then we were ushered into the back.  Jon and I sat together while the nurse took my blood pressure, weight, and asked me a few questions.  They asked about 10 times if I was a victim of domestic violence.  I was almost tempted to make a joke and say yes, but I didn't.

The doctor came in and talked with us for about 10 minutes, which was nice.  We talked about the NT scan and other tests that we may or may not want to do.  We have decided to do all the non-invasive tests just to be prepared for any unusual circumstances.  So the conversation went well, and the doctor asked me about my annual exam.  I told her it had been almost exactly a year since my last one, so she went ahead and did one.

But the best news is that we scheduled an ultrasound!  On March 16, we will get to see our Pintsize and hopefully hear the heartbeat.  I can't wait for this - it's all I think about.  I just want to make sure everything is okay.

Fitness Blah

Since I haven't posted about this in awhile, you can assume it's not going well.  But actually, I'm not sure how it's going, since our scale broke and it's just not important to me how much I weigh, as long as I'm making healthy choices.  I think a lot of the time, we get caught up in the numbers when we really should be paying attention to the quality of the food we are eating.

So that's my new focus.  I'm not caring much about calorie count or how much I weigh.  What I'm paying attention to is whether or not I'm getting the right veggies, fruits, and other foods I need to stay healthy.  I think that's going to be a better plan anyway.

Married Life

As you know, we got married at the end of October.  Now, we are in the month of February, our 4th month of being married.  I have to say, I love it!  Jon is truly the most wonderful person in the whole world and I love being his wife.  He is supportive, loving, helpful, and sexy.  :)

We have so much fun, whether we are playing a game or just sitting around watching TV, or lying in bed, laughing about the dogs or something that happened during the day.

This is so different from my first marriage.  The ex was nice and all, but he was never really supportive and never really showed love or affection.  And he was so critical of me, especially in the last year.  Jon is never critical.  If he has some kind of constructive criticism, he gives it with tact and care.

I'm so happy to have finally found (and married) this man, who is perfect for me in every possible way.  :)

House Hunting!

Well, it looks like we will be looking for a house to buy!  We were thinking seriously about buying the house we were renting, but with the market being what it is and the amount of work the house needs, we know they are asking too much and we can do a lot better if we just look around first.  So we are going to look at houses and neighborhoods this weekend.  We signed a new lease (just for six months this time) so we will have some time to find something.  Expect some fun "house hunting adventures" posts.

I can't wait to find our home.  And then comes the moving (not looking forward to that part) and the decorating (much better) and settling in.  I am so excited!  Our goal is to find a good house in a nice neighborhood with a back yard (preferably fenced.)  I can't express how excited I am about this next phase in our lives.
